Join ISCABBS
If you are interested in joining ISCABBS the first step is to log in.
You can take a look around the BBS first and see if you like it by signing in under the username Guest. The Guest account allows you to browse through the BBS and read posts from other members.
When you are ready to create an account, log in and type New at the prompt. This will take you through the acount creation process. Once you create your account, a validation key will be e-mailed to the address that you provided during the process. When you receive this, log back into the BBS and you will be prompted for it. This key should arrive within an hour, depending on Internet conditions.
ISCABBS has hundreds of core members who have maintainted an account for over ten years, and thousands who make ISCABBS a part of their daily activities. Others come and go, and new people join every day. Roadtrips, friendships, marriages and children have all been created as a result of ISCABBS. For these reasons ISCABBS has become a model for the virtual community, and has been the subject of several research studies and thesis papers over the years.
Twice a year the Iowa Student Computer Association sponsors ISCANIC, a two-day weekend event where members of the BBS and student group are invited to meet, play and have a good time. The event has proven so successful that many members also put together their own mini-nics for people within various regions to meet on a more frequent basis.
